Nancy Holliday
I was born in Los Angeles on 4/25/47 and raised in San Luis Obispo. I attended junior high school at Ojai Valley School, in Ojai, Calif., and high school at Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Upon completing my MA in Secondary Education for the (socially) Disadvantaged Student from the University of Denver, I moved to Tahoe in 1971.
I am married to my wonderful, amazing wife, Knute Anscomb. I have a daughter, Ashley, who is married and lives in Joshua Tree, Calif. I also have one sister, Julie, who lives on Vashon Island in Washington. Cooper, as good a cat as one could ever hope for, (of course from the Humane Society) rules the house and lets us know who really is the boss.
During my school years, I participated in both soccer and baseball. In my freshman year at Denver, I played on the only Division 1, undefeated, unscored-upon, highest-scoring team in the nation. I was one of only three Americans on the team, and to this day is a memory I will always treasure.
I was the first soccer and cross-country coach at Truckee High.
I ran 26 marathons, with a best of 2:47:38.
I won my age group in X-C skiing in the Far West Division in 1998.
I have owned and operated three businesses in Truckee/Tahoe: Alpenglow Sports (in Truckee and Tahoe City) , The Second Crossing, and Grey’s Toll Station Restaurant.
Forty years ago, as concessioners, Glenn Jobe and I started Tahoe Donner Cross Country, and in the winter, I still work there; during the summer, I often work as a carpenter, both building homes and doing repairs and maintenance.
I served on the Truckee Recreation and Park District Board for 26 years, as well as on numerous other boards. At present, I am on the Truckee Recreation and Parks Foundation Board and the Pine Forest HOA Board.
I love animals more than most humans. Since moving to Tahoe/Truckee, I have never been without a dog or cat except for the brief in between times when one has passed.
In my spare time, I road bike ride, X-C ski, garden, landscape, fish, and enjoy life to it’s fullest. I love eating good food. Have a passion for the outdoors and sport. The Dodgers are my baseball team of choice. My wife has nicknamed me “Sir chats-a lot” because I do enjoy the art of conversation.
